Another prediction: Huck's surge will help Romney

by David Alvord

The Huck surge is helping the Romney campaign because it is hurting Fred Thompson and John McCain. Thompson has been second in the National polls and wants to be the conservative alternative to Rudy. Now that Huck is surging, I predict a Thompson and McCain decline. So, how does Huck's surge help Romney? His rise is taking steam away from the other two candidates who are strong on all three legs of Reagan's three-legged stool.* Yet Huck is only strong on two of those legs. This January, I predict some Romney wins and one or two Huckabee wins...which will leave Thompson and McCain winless and out of the game.

This February, Florida will only have these three to choose from:

Rudy
Pros: fiscal conservative, pro-military
Cons: Pro-choice, pro-gun control, sanctuary city mayor, scandal ridden, socially liberal, thrice married, against the line-item veto
SUMMARY: TWO LEGS OF THE STOOL

Huck
Pros: Pro-life, pro-second amendment, social conservative
Cons: not a fiscal conservative, weak on immigration, big taxer, is an ideologue, in favor of the so-called "fair-tax"
SUMMARY: TWO LEGS OF THE STOOL

Romney
Pros: pro-life, pro-second amendment, socially conservative, fiscally conservative, strong on immigration, will not raise taxes, will control government spending, will fight war on terror, free from any scandals, and is ridiculously pro-family
Cons: was once pro-choice (no longer), belongs to a Christian church that isn't currently in the majority.
SUMMARY: ALL THREE LEGS OF THE STOOL

Only Rudy and Romney have the money to go the distance. Romney has the most endorsements and the best campaign. But even if all things were equal, I believe that Republicans will choose the most conservative candidate on Super-Duper Tuesday. Thanks to Huck, Mitt will be the most conservative candidate left standing!

*NOTE, THE "STOOL" REFERS TO RONALD REAGAN'S THREE-LEGGED STOOL:
LEG#1: Strong Families
LEG#2: Strong Economy
LEG#3: Strong Military
